August 31, 1997. That's when I set up the website on GeoCities that would eventually become Silver Screen Reviews. I toyed around with a few personal sites before this, on American Online and the WebChat Broadcasting System, but I never took an online presence seriously until 1997. I was a Junior in college and wanted to become an online film critic. By 1999 I had a respectable number of reviews published and was accepted into the Online Film Critics Society and even had my own Rotten Tomatoes page, though I am no longer a part of either organization. I never did this full time. After graduation I sought employment and had to balance watching movies, reviewing them and working. In 2006 I stopped writing. For the next twelve years I focused on my work, though I figured some day I would return to online movie reviewing. In February 2018, I finally made my return. GeoCities was long gone, having closed up shop in 2009. I settled on Blogger for my current home. I also post capsule reviews on Letterboxd.
